Brentford is closing in on a £42.5 million deal for Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara, with a club-to-club agreement expected imminently. The 23-year-old is eager to make the move to Gtech Community Stadium, potentially igniting a transfer domino effect across the Premier League.

Wissa’s Move to Newcastle

Ouattara’s arrival at Brentford may pave the way for Yoane Wissa to join Newcastle. Initially, the Bees were firm on keeping Wissa after Bryan Mbeumo’s £71 million transfer to Manchester United. However, the club has now softened its position, willing to let Wissa go if a suitable replacement is secured—and Ouattara fits that bill.

Currently, Wissa is training alone and pushing for a transfer to Newcastle after leaving Brentford’s pre-season camp in Portugal. The Magpies have had two bids for him rejected, the latest being an initial £30 million plus £5 million in potential add-ons. With less than a year remaining on his contract, Wissa believes he has a gentleman’s agreement with Brentford to leave this summer, having previously agreed to stay for the 2024/25 campaign.

The forward is keen to play Champions League football and has shown patience for the right opportunity. Newcastle expects to finalize the deal by the end of this week.

Isak’s Future Uncertain

Should Ouattara and Wissa finalize their moves, it could open the door for Alexander Isak to leave St James’ Park. Newcastle has been reluctant to part with Isak without a solid replacement lined up. Interest in the Swedish superstar is high, especially from Liverpool, who recently had a £110 million bid rejected. Meanwhile, Isak is currently sidelined from training amid ongoing speculation regarding his future.

Newcastle has also been linked with other forwards, including Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. The Toon Army has also inquired about Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but it appears that Wissa may be the primary target.

Ouattara’s Impressive Season

Burkina Faso international Ouattara had a notable season, scoring seven goals in the Premier League, including a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in January. He joined Bournemouth from FC Lorient for £19.5 million in 2023 and is currently contracted until 2028.

As these transfers materialize, one thing is clear: the accountants of Premier League clubs will be working diligently—perhaps even more than a VAR official trying to spot an armpit offside.
